Equity, Diversity, Inclusion

A Statement from the leadership of Alberta Theatre Projects

Alberta Theatre Projects (ATP) has been committed to increasing diversity throughout our organization for several years and equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) has been a key component of our current strategic plan, which resulted in ATP diversifying our board, management team, staff and artists. Although we are proud of our accomplishments regarding EDI, we recognize that there is much more to do to ensure that our organization is more reflective of the community we serve. We must also continue to be guided by input from outside our organization. The 35//50 Initiative, spearheaded by members of Calgary’s theatre community, has become an important voice in advocating for BIPOC theatre artists. We have heard their call for greater representation in our sector and are committed to continue our dialogue with them, and others, moving forward.

EDI will be a core component of our new strategic plan. It is our intent to consult with our stakeholders and experts to assist us in this work. Our new strategic plan will be developed over the next several months and we will be pleased to share it once it has been completed.

Sincerely,

Vishal Saini
Chair, Board of Directors of the Alberta Theatre Projects Society
