In this brand-new, contemporary retelling based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, a trio of artists fantastically portray the story’s iconic characters, transforming right before our eyes. Follow Alice through the rabbit hole, and be swept away through theatre magic, as the stage metamorphosizes into a magical realm. Be guided through a journey of self-discovery, exploring the resonating themes that Alice reflects on: “Who am I?” and “Where do I really want to be?”

We encourage submissions from Calgary- or Vancouver/Richmond-based actors.

ACTOR 1 – The role of Actor 1 primarily plays Alice. Our protagonist of the story, Alice believes that the world is orderly and stable but finds herself in a strange world ruled by imagination and fantasy. Alice has a keen sense of her identity and a strong curiosity about her surroundings but Wonderland challenges and frustrates her perception of the world.

ACTOR 2 – The role of Actor 2 includes multiple characters; Lory Liddell, Mouse, Pat Lizard, Pigeon, The March Hare, Dormouse, The Queen of Hearts, The King of Hearts.

ACTOR 3 –The role of Actor 3 includes multiple characters; Charles Dodgson, The White Rabbit, Door, The Caterpillar, The Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, Playing Cards Five.

The performers cast as Actors 2 and 3 will be capable of busy tracks and multiple characters from the ordinary to the extraordinary. The tracks require performers who can switch story telling mediums in an instant. Fun, frenetic and fast paced. And puppets! Please note that the script is currently being finalized and some characters and character distribution may change.
