In Wonderland

By Anna Cummer
Directed by Haysam Kadri

Based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass

November 23 – December 31, 2021

We regret to inform you that Alberta Theatre Projects has made the difficult decision to cancel the final two performances of In Wonderland due to unforeseen circumstances.

This includes the performances scheduled for:

Thu. Dec. 30 at 7:30pm
Fri. Dec. 31 at 1:00pm

We know this news is deeply disappointing for everyone who was looking forward to the show, and we wish we could have performed for you.

While saddened to have to make this decision, it is done out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our patrons, cast, crew, employees and volunteers.

At this time, we’re asking all ticket holders to these performances to please email our Ticket Office at or give us a call at 403-294-7402, with your choice of the following options:

  1. You may exchange your tickets to an upcoming performance of UndressedAlberta Kitchen Party or Kim’s Convenience later this season:
  2. You may donate the value of your tickets back to the theatre for a charitable donation receipt.
  3. You may request a refund for the full value of your tickets.

Please note that wait times may be higher than usual when contacting our Ticket Office as we handle a large number of requests. We appreciate your understanding and patience, and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We feel very fortunate to have performed In Wonderland throughout November and December, and sincerely thank everyone for your support.

If you have any further questions, please contact our Ticket Office at 403-294-7402 or

1 hour 40 mins, 2 acts   |   Ages 6+
World Premiere
Proscenium Stage

In this ambitious and contemporary retelling of Lewis Carroll’s classic novels, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, three actors fantastically portray the story’s iconic characters, transforming right before audience’s eyes. Follow Alice through the rabbit hole, and be swept away through theatre magic, as the stage spectacularly metamorphosizes into a stunning visual realm. In Wonderland is a world premiere, commissioned and developed by Alberta Theatre Projects, which revisits these timeless stories in a newly imagined way. Be guided through a journey of self-discovery, exploring the resonating themes that Alice reflects upon: “Who am I?” and “Where do I really want to be?”

Audience Considerations:

Recommended for ages 6+. This performance contains the use of strobe lighting and haze effects.

Be sure to join us for Happy Hour from 6:00pm-7:00pm, and take advantage of our London Bar. Pre-order your drink so that it’s all ready for you at intermission! (Please note, there will be no food or drinks allowed inside the theatre.)

Video Projection Technology for In Wonderland

The video projection technology you are watching at this performance has been made possible through the Calgary Foundation’s funding of a unique partnership between Ghost River Theatre and the Alberta Government.

These professional-grade projectors, specifically selected to function well within a theatre setting, are being made available not only to this company but also, through the management and support of Ghost River Theatre, to small and mid-sized Calgary cultural institutions at an affordable rental rate.

This means that this exciting but expensive new tool for theatrical production will be accessible to innovative Calgary artists, regardless of their budgets.
