Lili Beaudoin – Gracie

Joan MacLeod – Playwright

Joan MacLeod’s plays include Jewel, Toronto, Mississippi, Amigo’s Blue Guitar, The Hope Slide, Little Sister, 2000, The Shape of a Girl, Homechild, Another Home Invasion and The Valley. Her work has been translated into eight languages. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Governor General’s Award and the Siminovitch Prize for Theatre. For seven years she was a playwright-in-residence at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre. Since 2004 she has worked at the University of Victoria as a Professor in the Department of Writing. Gracie at the Belfry Theatre was the first time she has premiered work at home. She is thrilled with the team that has been assembled and grateful for the support and long relationship she has with both the Belfry and Alberta Theatre Projects.



Vanessa Porteous – Director, Dramaturg

Catherine Hahn – Set/Costume Design

Catherine has been designing sets and costumes for over 40 years, much of it for new Canadian plays. She has augmented her work in the theatre with designs for large-scale events, parade costumes, art installations, outdoor spectacles, film and television, paintings, jewellery and esoteric performance art. Her last show for ATP was last year’s production of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. She is delighted to be collaborating with the Belfry and ATP on this premiere of Gracie, an important new addition to the Canadian theatre canon. www.catherinehahn.com

Tobin Stokes – Composition/Sound Design

For ATP: Debut. Elsewhere: He has been involved with productions at the Belfry Theatre for over twenty years as composer, sound designer, performer, and musical director. He composes opera and last year his opera, Fallujah, premiered with Long Beach Opera, California, and New York City Opera. Film/TV: Tobin scores nature documentaries, many of which broadcast on CBC’s The Nature of Things, including the Wild Canada series. Awards: Tobin’s music has earned a Leo award (Living Things we Love to Hate), a Jessie award (Mary’s Wedding), and multiple Critics’ Choice theatre awards.



Jennifer Swan – Stage Manager

For ATP: The Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst (with Ghost River Theatre); Assistant Stage Manager, Studies in Motion: the Hauntings of Eadweard Muybridge (with Electric Company Theatre). Meredith Johnson – Apprentice Stage Manager
